About Snowshoe
Snowshoe Goldens resides in Inver Grove Heights, MN, a suburb of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Our facility consists of 10 acres in the country, just 4 mi. South of the 494 beltline.
Snowshoe consists of Steve and Sue Schnarr and Brian and Mary Clegg (Steve’s sister). Brian and Mary are ‘Oakpond’ professional handlers, and ‘Goldsmith’ Golden Retriever breeders.
Our ‘golden life’ began in 1991, with the purchase of PANDA, who would become our foundation breeding female.
We are committed to adhering to ‘the’ standard for golden retrievers, breeding for ‘sound mind and body.’ Temperament is of utmost importance of Snowshoe.
Whether you are looking for a competitive show dog, interested in therapy, obedience, rally, agility or field... or simply a ‘couch potato family companion’... there is likely a puppy for you!
| We have bred over 40 litters to date, so an average of 2-3 litters per year. We have consistently had a Nationally ranked ‘Top Ten’ Conformation show dog in recent years. - ‘Gracie’ was #2 female and #6 golden in 2001. - ‘Montana’ was #2 golden in 2002 & 2003, having won the BEST OF BREED at Westminster in 2003. - ‘Smooch’ was #1 female in 2006. Snowshoe’s philanthropic efforts include puppies donated to the American Service Dogs Association of Minnesota, as well as PUPPY LOVE CARING CANINES. ‘Blade,’ our first service dog has just completed his training and has been paired with Sgt. Marcus Kuboy, an injured Iraq war veteran. ‘Zoe’ is well into her training and should be placed with her new human companion in late 2010. The Westminster Kennel Club charity, ANGEL ON A LEASH, has become Sue’s newest passion, having completed training with Glory to become a therapy dog and begin volunteer work at Children’s Hospital. |
